Desmond and Jasmine met at Milwaukee Lutheran High School and dated and went to junior prom together. They then went their separate ways and attended separate colleges. Desmond went to UNC Pembroke and played basketball and obtained a bachelor's degree in Applied professional studies. He then went on to obtain a Masters at Keller Graduate School of Management in Financial Management and Accounting. Jasmine went to UAPB and played basketball, pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority INC., and later went on to Xavier University of Louisiana to obtain her doctorate in pharmacy. The two rekindled 10 years later via a Twitter DM where Desmond was checking on Jasmine. The two then began to talk and Facetime every day and then began dating. They did long distances and countless flights back and forth to each other. Even through distance, they both knew they were each other's soulmate and from early on the love was felt. Their personalities mesh so well with Desmond being so patient, reserved, and calm to Jasmine's outgoing, talkative, and fierce nature truly balancing one another out.

Desmond knew early on that Jasmine was going to be his wife. He started planning and asked her mom for her hand in marriage in the fall of 2022. In the Spring of 2023, Desmond and Jasmine went on a family cruise to Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Caymans. Desmond proposed after dinner on the cruise ship on March 14th. They had dinner with Desmond's family and Jasmine was walking to leave dinner, his sister Kayla tapped her on the shoulder, and then when Jasmine turned around Desmond was on one knee. He said we have been talking about making this a forever thing now it's time. Will you marry me? Jasmine looked loving into his eyes and immediately said yes without even letting him finish the full proposal she was so excited! He had a customized ring box made.
