We are an online dating success story. Jared found Kelsey on Hinge in October of 2020. Her profile made her seem like a fun person, with references to Harry Potter and being afraid of birds. Jared will tell anyone who will listen that he immediately became enamored with Kelsey's dimples. He's a sucker for dimples. So he liked one of her photos and waited for fate to intervene. Fast forward a couple months to December when Kelsey messaged him, and the conversation took off from there. Since this was during the pandemic, she was hunkering down with her parents in Knoxville while he was in Nashville. We "met" for the first time on FaceTime, and it wasn't until after the new year that we finally got together in person. And the rest, as they say, is history.

We spent the weekend of Kelsey's and her step-mom's birthdays at her family's townhome in St. Simons Island. Kelsey had no idea she would be celebrating more than just her birthday. The night before it happened, she asked Jared if he had talked to her dad earlier that day about proposing since they spent most of the morning alone together. It was Jared's first time on the island so her dad was showing him around while the ladies were at yoga. Jared told her that it just never came up and he apologized for not taking the chance to do it then (but he DID talk to her dad that morning, because he's sneaky like that). Kelsey was a little disappointed because she thought there was a small chance Jared would propose that weekend. The day of the proposal we had some alone time to kill so we drove around in the golf cart to look at the sights and Jared suggested stopping to take a walk on the beach. We walked to a part of the beach that jutted out into the ocean a little farther than the rest of the shoreline and Jared popped the question. Kelsey was so surprised! Later that evening at dinner we were at the bar waiting for our table and it was mentioned to the young couple next to us that we just got engaged. They said they were on the beach earlier that day and happened to witness a proposal taking place. They showed us a picture taken of the moment, and sure enough it was us! We now have that photo framed in our home.
