Wedding Day Approaching: Necessary Info!

As we're nearing the big day, we've pushed the more relevant questions up to the top. (At this point we assume you know how you're getting to the Berkshires and where you're staying.)
Question

What is the Dress Code for each event?

Answer

Welcome Drinks = Anywhere between Casual + to Semi-Formal Ceremony + Reception = Black Tie with a Twist! We encourage cool footwear or something that adds a little pizzazz to your outfit if that's your thing! Ladies: If you are going for height we suggest block heels or wedges. Gentlemen: If you do not own a tuxedo and renting one is a financial hurdle, a dark suit will suffice. Brunch = Your toned down, A.M. version of Casual +

Question

How will I get to the wedding?

Answer

(For the Welcome Drinks and Brunch you are left to your own devices.) For the Wedding, if you wish to drive yourself, parking will be available in "Maple Lot" and "Oat Lot." You are allowed to leave your car overnight if circumstances warrant. SHUTTLE SERVICE Bus #1 3:45pm Courtyard Lenox [70 Pittsfield Rd., Lenox] 4pm Hampton Inn [445 Pittsfield Rd., Lenox] Bus #2 4pm Gateways Inn [51 Walker St., Lenox] 4:10pm Apple Tree Inn [10 Richmond Mtn. Rd., Lenox] Shuttle Return Schedule 9:30pm, 10:30pm, 11:15pm (Departing from venue and returning to original pick up points) Taxi Service Please note that, unfortunately, there is no Ride Share in the Berkshires and taxi availability is minimal and limited. You may try County Rainbow Taxi #413-499-4300

Question

When does the wedding actually start?

Answer

We strongly recommend arriving by 4:30pm. There is a bit of distance between the parking lot and the location of the ceremony. Janie will be walking down the aisle at 5pm SHARP.

Question

Weather-wise, what do I need to know for the wedding day ?

Answer

Of course we're hoping for a perfect fall day but it's all up in the air, so to speak. Remember we're upstate in the mountains where things can get chilly. If weather permits, everything will be outside. And The Wedding Reception will be outdoors (under a heated tent) regardless. All of that said, we suggest dressing a little warmer than you might otherwise need to - i.e. layer up and you can always strip down as things start to heat up on the dance floor.

Question

How do I get to the Berkshires?

Answer

We'll be the first to tell you the Berkshires isn't the easiest place to venture to, but we believe in you! And we also recognize the effort you're putting forth to celebrate with us and we deeply appreciate that. Below are some helpful travel tips: Planes The closest airport is Albany International...Boston and NYC are 2.5 hours drive Trains Amtrak to Albany/Rensselaer (there's an Enterprise car rental near the Albany station). Automobiles If you're driving, you know how to do that (Janie likes Waze, Josh likes Google Maps).

Question

Where should I stay and when should I book?

Answer

We have provided you with options in the Travel section. We do not have personal experience at any of these places but we asked some locals for recommendations and we did some Googling on your behalf. It really boils down to what suits you best in terms of taste and price. There are small inns, traditional B&B, AirBNBs and regular hotels. Everything books up quickly there so we suggest putting a hold ASAP.

Question

What if I have kids that everyone loves who happen to be cuter than everyone else's kids?

Answer

We love your kids! But we ask that you find a sitter for them on the night of our wedding. We can't wait to celebrate with them another time :) P.S. If you are traveling with your kids they are welcome to attend the welcome event and goodbye brunch!

Question

What can I do during downtime?

Answer

There is a lot to check out in Lenox, in neighboring Stockbridge, and beyond. We made a suggested list of Things To Do (in the "Things To Do" section) or for additional, you can find ideas on this link: https://www.travelandleisure.com/trip-ideas/best-things-to-do-in-the-berkshires
