Not as such. This is a formal event but formal, semi-formal or dress casual/professional would all be appropriate for guests based on what makes them the most comfortable. We also want to let our friends and family know that we support them wearing clothes that reflect any gender or no gender.
Yes! We are choosing to do our guestbook a little differently, and asking our friends and family to sign pieces of our Jenga game! Then when we play the game we will remember the great time we had with you at our wedding!
We're really excited to bring a karaoke DJ to host our reception, since karaoke is a passion the wedding couple shares. There will be some time for karaoke singing and some time just for regular dancing to music. Anyone who has an interest in singing is encouraged to sing! Our DJ can look up just about any song you'd like to sing, so you can practice your favorite song before the event if you wish. This is a safe space and only positive and encouraging reactions to singers will be allowed. However, no one will be required to sing, so if it's not your thing, don't stress and please enjoy the show (and get out on that dance floor)!
There are a few kids (including Shawn’s!) who will be attending so we have lots of activities. In addition to dancing and karaoke, we have a drawing contest with prizes, board and card games, a photo booth area, and more!
The bride and groom request that guests please put away their cell phones and personal cameras at the beginning of the ceremony in order to allow the professional photographer and videographer to do their job. However, we will have a pause during the ceremony to allow guests to take photos of the couple. At that time you may take out you phone or camera and take pictures if you wish. We will then request that the cameras be put away for the remainder of the ceremony. You are welcome to take photos during the reception, however.
You can either mail an RSVP card using the self addressed stamped envelope, or email your RSVP to janetandshawn2023@gmail.com

The ceremony will start at 4pm so it would be great to arrive at 3:30pm. That should allow time for you to sign our guestbook, chit chat and and find your seat.
To the left and towards the back of the hotel there is free parking for wedding guests. There is also a private entrance to the State Street Ballroom on the back left side of the hotel, which would be the easiest entrance. You can also make your way to the State Street Ballroom through the hotel lobby.
