In 2015, Janelle was attending San Francisco State University when she was invited to a local event hosted at the beach. She was met by some of her friends and was introduced to Joseph. They stayed as friends for about three years before Joseph asked her to be in a relationship. On August 14, 2018 in the parking lot of Boiling Crab he asked if she would be his girl and she gladly accepted.

On a warm summer day in Folsom, Joseph’s family had a BBQ because Janelle’s sister was “visiting”. Little to Janelle’s knowledge, he was actually planning on proposing to her that day. While surrounded by close family, Joseph kneeled down on one knee and asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with him as his wife. She said yes!
