Our love song

I met you I liked you I love you I'm keeping you

The first verse

I met you...

They met working for the same company. Jamie had worked there for 5 years when Lisett started. She was training on 1st shift for a month before moving to 3rd. Lisett says that after meeting, she looked for reasons to talk to HR just so she could pass by Jamie's office to get a glimpse. Fast forward a pandemic, work-from-home for a year, and a shift change and Jamie was back in the plant for just a few days. By now, Lisett would start work by 2pm. Just enough time to cross paths again. Without thinking of why, Jamie randomly offered Lisett a couple of Brewer bobbleheads to add to her collection and then it was back to working from home for a couple weeks. The next time Jamie was in the office, Lisett made sure to talk to Jamie again and it was easy, comfortable, and by then, enough for Lisett to make sure it wasn't another year and a half before they talked.

Finding the lyrics

I liked you...

It was a few days after that before Lisett messaged Jamie to ask when she would be in the office again. It wasn't going to be for a while, but Lisett did get Jamie's number out of it. Jamie was going through a tough time and Lisett would send her cute messages and videos to keep the conversation going. One day, Jamie was working on a tractor at her dad's when Lisett sent a message. In response to Lisett calling her a "bad ass", Jamie sent a selfie back wearing a tank top with the lyrics "just a small town girl" on it. Lisett responded with the next line of the song and ever since, they often speak in song lyrics to each other. Before long, Jamie invited Lisett over for fireworks and then they would hang out on the weekends, often until 2am talking and laughing, sharing music, and stories. They continued spending time together since Lisett was down for whatever. She even showed up to help fold laundry and run errands with Jamie. Then, Lisett invited Jamie to a Brewer game which Jamie thought was because she already had the tickets. Turns out, Lisett hadn't purchased the tickets yet. After the game, they went to Point Burger Bar and had the absolute best time EVER in the arcade after dinner. Jamie thought this was friends having fun and didn't realize it was meant to be a date even though she had sensed Lisett's interest. When Jamie went on a road trip to Tennessee, she made an effort to find a gift to bring back for Lisett. The night she returned, she knew that Lisett was leaving for a trip to the Florida Keys the next day and stopped by Lisett at work to give her the gift. Everyday, while Lisett was gone, she would text Jamie. Then, one of the days, Lisett's friend even messaged Jamie on her phone to see if she should encourage Lisett to pursue Jamie or tell her they should just be friends for now. Jamie's honest answer was that she thought about it a lot already and adored Lisett, but didn't have the words herself to bring it up. At the time, she thought that she should not get involved given the challenges she was dealing with at the moment. When Lisett returned from Florida, they made plans to go to the State Fair the very next day. That morning, Lisett mustered up the courage to say the words "I really like you". Jamie's response was "I know". It wasn't very eloquent, but she didn't know what else to say in the moment. She decided to just share with her the same thing she told her friend. Either way, they agreed to try and see where it went as long as Lisett was aware and okay with Jamie's current situation. That night, at the top of the ferris wheel, Lisett and Jamie had their first kiss. Even though Jamie still struggled to find the right words most days, they both found ways to tell each other that they cared. Often sending each other songs to listen to or talking through song lyrics and their meaning, Jamie and Lisett had a shared connection to music. One of those times, Jamie sent a song to Lisett to listen to. It is titled "You matter to me" and now belongs to them as their song.

Elvis sang it best

I love you

"Wise men say, only fools rush in. But I can't help help, falling in love with you." Everything did click. Personality, humor, music, drive, and more. Compassion and understanding made it so Jamie felt safe around Lisett, but she didn't take all her walls down yet. Lisett was there and obviously interested in being a partner. She even loved Gavin and respected Jamie as his mom while forming a bond with him as well. As time went on, Lisett found herself staying at Jamie's so often that she was there to help support and take on some of the load of parenting. Gavin was already showing that he liked Lisett so much that he wanted to be like her. It was adorable (and admittedly, a little creepy.) Lisett had Jamie laughing hard every single day. It was infectious and beautiful, and really, Jamie could no longer deny the love that she felt for Lisett.

Will you marry me someday?

I'm keeping you

Lisett expressed her interest in having this new life be long term. It still took Jamie a little longer to let her guard down and show Lisett how much she meant to her. She didn't want to rush things, but before long, Lisett had started asking her every day "Will you marry me someday?". At first the answers were "possibly", then "probably", and eventually "yes." She continued to ask every day even after she got a "yes". Sometimes though, Jamie would beat her too it for the day and ask Lisett "Will you marry me someday?" These were typically the days that Jamie felt so much love towards Lisett that she couldn't contain it. Often, it would make them both cry. Jamie did have a goal of moving to Tennessee and luckily, she finally found someone so loving and dedicated that she is willing to share in the life experience. The proposal was very practical, deciding on rings together and knowing that they were both already all in. Like the gamblers that they are, these two could feel that it was finally time to bet big on love. Since then, they have been planning this June wedding with a goal of completely combining households and moving to Tennessee together afterwards. Jamie and Gavin along with Lisett and her Mama, ready to be one family, under one roof. Condensing two established households will mean a lot of downsizing, but they are excited for the guaranteed adventures that will come next.

For all the days along the way
