Shay had joined her friend Mckenzie on a night out to a local bar when Shay spotted James playing pool. She had turned to Mckenzie and said “I’m talking to him by the end of the night.” When James was getting ready to leave for the night he had walked by Shay’s table and smiled. She asked, “Where are you going?” He said, “I was going to go home.” She said, “No you’re not, sit down. What beer do you drink?” And 6 years later they are getting married!

They were headed to Utah for a camping trip and about 20 minutes outside of town James turned to Shay and said “I forgot the ring.” After some angry words from Shay, they finally were laughing about it by the time they got home to grab the ring. James then surprised her by getting down on one knee in the middle of their first home together!
