On a South Florida winter night in 2015, we both received a notification on our phones, "You have a match!" Sent from a dating app on our phones. Yes a modern romance, but one swipe right truly changed our lives forever. We matched a few days before Christmas and that Holiday season was one we will never forget. We spent our Christmas days celebrating with family, but we were hardly apart. Loren at her first apartment in Plantation, Jimmy with his family in Orlando, both highly distracted making googly eyes at our phones as we messaged back and forth all day. We shared our love for our families, our favorite holiday food, and how we wished we could spend a moment together in real life on this Christmas day. We made an arrangement to meet in person the next day, December 26th, 2015 during Loren's lunch break at work. Coincidentally, we worked in the same building. Loren was highly hesitant about dating apps and wanted to control how much time we spent together, so 30 minutes was all we got. One MangoFest from Smoothie King, and four sweaty palms later..... our virtual conversations had become a reality and all we wanted was more... After taking a few moments to reflect, and realizing we hadn't been catfished, we agreed to go on a real first date the following night at a Miami brewery. We spent the evening sharing beers and stories and playing Connect 4. And we've been just about inseparable since. Needless to say, we are forever grateful for swiping right on that South Florida Winter night.
It's no secret that we were end-game from early on in our relationship. We knew that we wanted to explore life with each other until the very end..... Now let's fast forward to January 2020. We had planned our first trip to Europe for several months. Loren was busy planning our itinerary while Jimmy was planning his..... We started in Amsterdam and had the time of our life exploring the city and culture, imagining what our lives would look like living there. After a few days living amongst the Dutch, we pushed the romance button and took our exploring to Paris, France. After many walks, glasses of wine, and an abundance of croissants... You could say we were "feeling the love" in the most romantic city in the world. As our trip began to come to an end, one evening Jimmy suggested a walk to see the Louvre lit up at night. As we strolled under The Arc De Triomphe du Carrousel, Jimmy nervously laughed at everything Loren said. He was trying to wrench the ring out of his coat, perhaps secured a bit too tightly. He began to express his emotions to Loren and how he loved the life we'd created together. He said that he wanted to do this beautiful life together.. forever.. He got down on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful diamond ring worn by his grandmother, and asked Loren to spend the rest of her life with him. Loren shouted yes, through flurry of tears, as she proceeded to wrap her brain around what had just happened. We shared a kiss under the moonlit shadow of the Eiffel Tower, vowing never to leave one and other's side.
