All because two people swiped ➡️ Chase and Jaeda met when they were both least expecting to start a future with another person. After "liking" each other Bumble, they formed a quick bond over The Office, music (especially Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and any heavy metal) cinematic masterpieces, beer, dogs, similar values, tacos, and an initial attraction between two alluring opposites - a football loving Pisces and a book obsessed Capricorn. After exchanging texts for a week, they met in-person on Friday, October 13th (Jaeda dubbed this as good luck rather than bad luck) outside a dimly lit bar. The connection was instantaneous. An evening of soaking up each other's comforting presence, genuine laughter within seconds of meeting, effortless conversation, and many gin and tonics, resulted in both Chase and Jaeda knowing that this was more than casual. Chase and Jaeda were enamored by each other's magnetic personalities, their ability to eliminate all fears by just existing, how they could be completely and utterly themselves, and this glow that they brought to each other's lives. Chase and Jaeda's story is the perfect reminder that love is found at the most unexpected time.
It's time for a story from Jaeda's perspective. If anyone knows Chase, you know that he has a hard time keeping a secret (at least with me). He usually spoils a surprise because he is just too excited. Well, when I tell you he kept the proposal a secret for months, you better believe it. Apparently Chase bought my ring late summer of 2020 and kept it stowed away in his closet until December. He later told me that he would look at it every morning before work. If that isn't sweet, I don't know what is. I graduated from college on December 17th and that weekend we were headed to Sauk Centre for our annual Christmas celebration with Chase's side of the family. This was already planned to be an eventful, memorable, and busy weekend, so add a proposal into the mix, and you get one helluvah story. Friday was a typical Christmas celebration with the Mieczkowski family - movies, cookies, lots of drinks, games, and an elaborate meal. Nothing out of the ordinary to make me suspicious. Fast forward to Saturday morning and I'm told to get ready so we can have our yearly fire, drinks, and ice skating on the ice. This was expected, but then everyone left the house except Chase and me, and he sat in the bedroom with me the entire time I got ready. I also noticed he was quiet, on his phone a lot, and kind of nervous. This was when I started to get suspicious. Before we went down on the ice, Chase and I went for a walk. This is where it gets good. I knew something was happening the second he made us go on a walk before we would be spending the entire day on the lake. He said "let's walk over here," so we walked to the vacant land next to the house and he started talking, or rather blubbering, and he said he had planned to say a lot but essentially just said, "I love you and want to ask you something" (we actually both forgot exactly what he said). In the moment, I looked to my right and saw "W_LL _U_" and a heart written in snow on the ice, and that's when he got down on one knee. After I said yes and we kissed, he said "Oh yeah...there's a drone that caught everything on camera." And a drone came flying down, perfectly capturing this special moment. And this is why Chase was so nervous, on his phone, and everyone else was down on the ice. The drone only had so much battery life, so everyone kept asking him when we were making our way out. Like a missing letter on Wheel of Fortune, or a missing puzzle piece, that's what Chase has always been to me: the missing part that I didn't know would change my life forever until the stars aligned.
