Our Story

Middle School to Marriage

Carson and Jade first met in the 6th grade at South Middle School, where they had just about every class together. Jade had a few friends and was known for being more shy and to herself, while Carson was in the 'popular' crowd and was well known ;) Everyone thought he was cute, including Jade, but turns out Carson thought she was pretty cute too. It only took him 2.5 years to finally realize that though, and half way through the 8th grade year, Carson got the courage to reach out and start texting Jade. She was thrilled to say the least- never did she think the boy she always crushed on would actually start talking to her! Snapchatting turned into texting, that moved to walking together in the halls, and sitting by each other any chance they got in class. They wanted to make it official by saying they were dating but Jade's dad had a strict rule of no boyfriends until the age of 16, and they were 14 at the time. Turns out he was a little more lenient after meeting Carson and moved the age down to 15; Carson is a pretty cool guy it seems, nothing to be worried about! On her 15th birthday - 03-21-2015 - Carson asked Jade to be his girlfriend and she said yes. About 8 years later, after finishing high school and 4 years of college together (with SO much life inbetween- see the gallery), Carson asked Jade another similar question. Again, her answer was yes! So here they are now, about to get married. Feeling blessed to have been placed in each others lives, they are excited to get to spend the rest of their time together as a married couple. 11:11 wishes do come true!

Our Engagement

Legend of LOVE

Junior year of Highschool, Carson and Jade took a college visit day to tour Wichita State University. The tour guide stopped in front of a piece of art titled "Love", a sculpture created by artist, Robert Indiana. According to the guide, legend has it that if you and your person kiss or hug in front of the sculpture on WSU's campus, then you are bound to get married and have a happy life together. Sounded easy enough, so they opted to hug/take a photo together in front of the art in hopes the legend would come true. A few years later, they both decided to attend college at WSU and continued to take a photo in front of the Love sculpture after each year they completed. They learned that Robert Indiana has Love sculptures all across the country and even some internationally. Encouraging them to travel more, they decided they were going to try and visit as many Love sculptures as they could together. After graduation, Carson's parents gifted them plane tickets to go visit Jade's grandparents in Miami, FL so of course they had to see if there was a Love sculpture near by. Luckily there was one located in Aventura, FL - and they planned a whole day of the trip to go visit it. Carson and Jade were getting photos by the art when a man came over and started taking photos of the art as well, chatting with them about how he loved photographing art and nature. He offered to take photos of them on his professional camera and of course they aren't going to say no to that. He guided them into different poses around the sculpture and then prompted Carson to get down on one knee. Jade was very confused at his joke and looked at the guy like was crazy but then it finally clicked when Carson actually pulled out a box and offered her a ring, asking her to marry him. The answer was a millions times, yes! Turns out everyone was in on this and the photographer was no stranger; and somehow Jade didn't see this coming. But what a beautiful surprise in the most meaningful way! Carson and Jade look forward to keeping this tradition alive and continuing to travel together to visit all the Love sculptures - soon as husband and wife.
