Before Jacob and I met, I heard the phrase, “It will happen when you least expect it” all too often. Whoever first said that knew what they were talking about. We both have our interest in aviation to thank for bringing us together. We met at Burlington Alamance Regional Airport where I was a student pilot and he was an instructor. However, let it be known that he was not my instructor. The first time Jacob and I spoke was the day I had my first solo cross country flight. This is an important milestone in private pilot training and I was very nervous about it. My instructor was out that day, so Jacob was the one that helped me with my preflight. If you know Jacob well, then you know how calm and patient he is. So, it worked out that he helped me that day. I’ll spare you the details of each interaction after that, even though many are comical. I did one training flight with Jacob before I received my license. On that flight, we talked about weddings, travel, flying, family and more. We immediately connected. Jacob and I’s relationship took off from there. Pun intended. We moved in together after a pretty short period of dating and have been building our little life together since. We happily live in Burlington NC, where Jacob grew up. We are so grateful to be surrounded by family and good friends. We have wanted to get married from early on in our relationship, so I write this with a smile on my face. When I realized that I loved Jacob and wanted to spend my life with him, I told him something about me I never thought I would say out loud. I told him that for as long as I can remember, I would pray almost everyday for my future husband. I am so lucky that my wish is coming true. Thank you for being a part of our story.
