Jacob & I met in 2019 during graduate school at OU where we shared virtually all of the same classes. While we didn't start dating until about 6 months into the school year, we quickly became friends. My very first interaction with Jacob was when he handed me my AirPods after they fell out of my backpack and I remember feeling terrible saying thank you because for the life of me I couldn't remember his name. As the year went on, we began spending increasingly more time together. We worked in neighboring labs at school so we would frequently pop in to ask each other questions about our classes. It got to the point where I found myself asking him questions that I already knew the answer to just to have an excuse to talk to him. After several attempts at trying to get Jacob to be social with our class, I finally convinced him to hang out with us (me) outside of school for our class Friendsgiving party. This would be the first time we would see each other outside of a school setting. We had been talking back and forth about what food we would bring to the party all week and Jacob recruited the help of his dad to impress me with his homemade pies - anyone who's had Dave's cooking knows, they did not disappoint. Meanwhile, I brought my famous chocolate chip pumpkin bread and I think its safe to say Jacob was sold. He liked it so much he ate nearly half of the loaf! Of course me wanting to win him over decided to surprise him with the extra leftover loaf at school the next day (which he finished in one day LOL) . As the end of the semester approached things got busy with studying for finals, but we still stayed in constant communication with each other. It was the night before I was set to go home for a month on Christmas break and Jacob finally got up the courage to ask me if he could give me a hug goodbye. Of course I said yes! About 3 minutes later I'm driving home and a text comes through asking me to go get a quick dinner with him. Unfortunately Tropical Smoothie cafe closed 5 minutes after we got there so we ordered our food and then headed our separate ways for the next couple weeks. Over the break, we decided that we would finally have our first real date when I returned to Oklahoma. The day was fast approaching and when it finally arrived I was beyond nervous. However, the nerves quickly faded because things just felt that effortless between us. I knew from that day that I had found someone truly special in Jacob - and as they say the rest is history!
