We met online and quickly hit it off we quickly exchanged numbers and decided to Facetime within a few hours of swiping right on each other. That night we were on FaceTime till 3 a.m. and decided to go on a date a few days later. On the night of our date, Jake came out to mom & dad's to pick me up. We chatted the entire way to New Haven, ended up getting Subway for dinner, and took it back to his mom's house. That night I met Brian, Becky, Kenzie, and Adam. While trying to eat our dinner, Kenzie and Jake were talking about setting a date for cousins' weekend at the lake. I was asked what my calendar looked like for July and was invited to join. Guess they saw potential in me on the first date 😉. From there we watched Yellowstone and then he took me back out to my place. After talking and texting as much as we could I went to his house after a day of student teaching. That night we went to the Fire House for a while and then went back to his house, and that is when he asked me to become his girlfriend. Of course, I said yes! The following night was the Fire Banquet where I met Tim, Joyce his cousins, and friends. When it came to meeting my family I was so nervous. The original plan was to drive around the farm and I was going to make supper but Dad had other plans. We were starting a fencing project and Mom said that we should go and help Dad. We went out to the shed & grabbed the gator. Dad then stopped by the house and came out carrying the .22. I was questioning why he needed the .22 and he said it was to help line trees up, but I think it was a scare tactic. We made it over to where the new fence was going to go and started to walk the woods. Dad instructed me to stay at one tree and to not move while Jake & Dad kept walking (luckily the .22 was still on the gator). They walked until I lost sight of them. I started to worry because Jake didn’t know where he was and was in the woods alone with my dad. I decided to start walking further into the woods and eventually found them, we then finished finding the property line and went home to make supper.

Jake & I were talking on my way home from work & he was really wanting to go out to eat that night even though we just went out the night before. I was exhausted and didn’t want to go out to eat. So we settled on ordering in pizza. I get home & Jake gets home a few minutes after me. He jumps in the shower, which is typical after work for him, and he takes the quickest shower ever. I was laying on our bed scrolling through Facebook at the time. He runs out to his truck and grabs the ring. From there he comes back into our room and gets down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!
