It all started back in elementary school when Jacob, the reigning dodgeball champion, would relentlessly pelt all the kids—including Clara—with dodgeballs after school. Naturally, Clara always wanted to be on Jacob's team. That's when Jacob started having an interest in Clara... just kidding. It actually started when Jacob joined the cross country team their junior year at Guilford High School. Specifically, it was one hot summer afternoon when Jacob was running laps around the track, wearing nothing but running shorts and a pair of Nikes…that’s when Clara tucked him into the back of her mind. Fast forward a few months later, and the two were chatting everyday. Jacob could not believe that a cute girl was talking to him, let alone showing interest in him. After a couple of months, Clara realized Jacob would never get the guts to ask her out so she asked HIM to dinner. On December 14th, 2018, the two went on their first date at the Guilford Town Green. They talked for hours over pizza—right up until Jacob, dressed in basketball shorts despite the frigid December weather, nearly turned into a popsicle. Since that day, the two have been inseparable. After graduating from high school, they attended separate colleges but remained together, confident that their love was strong enough to withstand months apart. They looked forward to every fall, winter, and spring break, and of course summers, when they could reunite in their hometown. After graduating college, they moved to San Diego, CA and started a new life together with their adorable kitten Cashew. On September 14th, 2024, Jacob took Clara to a beautiful cliff walk overlooking the ocean. As the sun set, he got down on one knee and asked Clara to marry him.
