Our first date was in January 2018 (MLK weekend) at a restaurant in Chapel Hill. Devan reached out for a handshake and Jackie went straight in for a hug (she's a hugger)! That turned out to be a plus in Devan's eye. Fast forward, the night was filled with easy and great conversation, and before we knew it, hours had past and the restaurant was clearly closing. We were having such a great time we didn't realize the hour or that we were clearly overstaying our welcome! A second date was obvious and the rest is history :)

Devan hit this one out of the park! On a Saturday morning, Devan woke up early (like his typical early-riser self) to finish work notes and let Jackie sleep in a bit (she is a lover of sleep). Jackie wakes up to see Devan has brought her coffee and placed it on the dresser at the foot of the bed. As she grabs the coffee, she sees there are also small cards that are pre-printed with something cute on the one side, and a hand-written love note on the back of each. Jackie opens the bedroom door and sees there are MORE cards organized in a trail-fashion leading her through the living room, into the dining room, and to the Christmas tree (yes we still had our holiday tree up in January). Jackie follows the trail of cards, with a huge smile on her face as she read each card and the love note he wrote on the back (probably saying "awwww" in a high pitch tone every 5 seconds or so as she read each card). Jackie gets to the final card and it is pre-printed with "Hey, you know I love you, right?" - which is the exact phrase Devan used when he first told Jackie he loved her! And on the back, he wrote "Will you marry me?". It was absolutely perfect - private, intimate, just us, and in the form of love notes that are saved in an album that Jackie can read any time!
