After reluctantly agreeing to go on a “blind-double-date” with their friends Mike and Edie, Jackie accompanied David to Stults Farm where David worked for 9 years. David led the 4 of them on a tour of the farm. Before leaving David made the first move by buying Jackie’s pumpkin. They all enjoyed their date so much that they all went to dinner that same night. Jackie was the first to text after the date to try and schedule a second date to carve their pumpkins, as she knew their was something different about David. David remembers making Jackie smile and laugh during their tour and within no more than an hour of starting the date, David knew she was special.

After over 4 years, taking the big step from dating to engaged was a very easy decision for David. They both were excited to start the next chapter of their lives together in their new home and thus, only a week before closing on the home, David decided to pop the question. He lured Jackie to Stults Farm (the location of their first date) and pictured the perfect proposal. Of course nothing ever goes as planned...It was a rainy day, Jackie had a terrible day at work, and she was overwhelmed by a lot to do that evening. David (and Jackie’s Mom Doreen) had to work very hard to convince Jackie to still come to the farm, get out of the car, and finally enter the barn where the proposal was going to take place. Once she walked in and saw the flowers, lights, candles, and pictures, she immediately softened and enjoyed the moment. As soon as David got on one knee, Jackie spotted her friend Stefania hiding and filming the event and pointed and exclaimed “What are you doing here!?!?” Despite the short interruption, both Jackie and David were extremely excited to start their lives as engaged home-owners. After at least a thousand photos, Jackie and David had dinner with the Bliss family and then dessert at the Adlai-Gail’s. David says he was most nervous for the little speech he was going to give when getting down on one knee. In the moment his mind went completely blank and barely even uttered Jackie’s name. Jackie who was completely surprised did not know how to process everything that just happened. Both however, remember how special that day was for each of them.
