It was love at first sight when Jack–a high school senior– and his football team lined up in the Bishop Diego quad singing “homecoming” right as Nathalie–a high school junior–walked out of third period. Actually, it wasn’t, but it was a fun start. Despite being in different friend groups and not knowing a single thing about each other for three years during high school, a couple of mutual friends thought they would be a good match. After Jack was crowned 2013 homecoming king and Jack and Nathalie danced the night away to Bubble Butt (if you know you know), they stayed friends and occasionally caught up via text or in Mr. Fay’s calculus class. Months later, they reconnected at a Halloween party; the rest was history. Jack–dressed up in a Mariachi band costume–had half of his drawn-on mustache stolen by Nathalie, and the two of them knew this was the start of a fun adventure. They quickly grew into best friends, started seriously dating, and learned they had way more in common than they ever imagined. To name a few things among the many personality traits and interests they share: Jack’s dad and Nathalie’s mom went to high school together, Jack and Nathalie’s moms have been in the same book club for 20+ years, and Jack and Nathalie’s grandparents live on the same street and are old friends. They managed to maintain a strong and steady relationship when Jack left for the University of Oregon, Nathalie left for Loyola Marymount University, Jack transferred to Loyola Marymount University (not because Nathalie was there or anything…), Jack moved to San Francisco, and everything in between. After graduating from school in 2019, Nathalie knew that San Francisco was the place to be (not because Jack was there or anything…). They continue to create a vibrant life together full of laughs and memories made with close friends who have become family, travels and adventures across the world, cooking and eating their way through San Francisco, sentimental moments with each other’s families, and the trials and tribulations they face with their puppy, Harlowe. It wasn’t love at first sight, but it’s been *almost* ten years of falling in love with each other more and more every day.
