Ocracoke is super walkable! You can rent bicycles and golf carts from your hotel or realty company. You can also drive, but parking is typically limited, so we like to use our cars just to get to the beach or for large grocery trips.
All of the beaches on Ocracoke are part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and there are no houses or other structures allowed. You can drive to one of several beaches along Irvin Garish Highway and park. Both the Lifeguard Beach (the second from the village) and the Campground Beach (third from the village) offer restrooms. If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle, you can apply for a beach permit and drive onto South Point beach and Airport Beach.
We recommend that you make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. You do not, however, need to officially RSVP until March.
Yes! We're registered at Zola, Crate and Barrel, Food52, REI and West Elm. You can find more details on our registry page. (See the menu at the top of the page.)
We recommend that guests looking for hotels stay at the Captain's Landing Hotel, Ocracoke Harbor Inn or the Pony Island Motel. We also recommend looking at house rentals through Ocracoke Island Realty or Blue Heron Realty, or on AirBnB. There is plenty more information in the section "Getting to Ocracoke."
If we've added "Guest" to your invitation, then yes. If not, we'd love for just you to attend. We have limited room and want to make sure all of our closest friends and family are here!
If we've included your family on your invitation, then yes, of course! Please keep in mind, though: The wedding will be outside with only very limited seating for our guests who cannot stand for long periods on their own.
Attire is wedding casual! Please keep in mind that the ceremony will be on grass, so it may be hard to walk in your tallest heels. The weather on Ocracoke can change on a dime, and it tends to be quite windy at times. Bring a light jacket or shawl if you're concerned about being cold. (We're sure you Californians know how this works.)
