Danny and Ishani met on their first day of college orientation -- unsurprisingly, with a table of food between them. Over the next six years, they became close friends who both supported and relentlessly teased each other. Then, one Sunday, Danny invited himself over to make Korean pancakes at Ishani's apartment. They had a great time. He started showing her pictures of his dog and his abuela. They started jamming out to a strange array of Bollywood rap and BTS. By the time Danny realized Ishani was the type of person to pump her car brakes to the beat of a song just to embarrass him in public, it was already too late for him to escape. They could no longer deny the inevitable. They were perfect for each other: Ridiculous, loving, and always hungry.

Right before they celebrated their medical school graduation, Danny and Ishani took a trip to Hawaii with Ishani's family. On the second day of their trip, they set course for Haleakala National Park. There, at the highest peak on the island of Maui, in the middle of a gigantic cloud, Danny got down on one knee to propose. At least, he tried to -- because Ishani was clueless and kept wandering off in random directions. After an admirable attempt to reel her back to the desired location, he proposed to her. She screamed and immediately accepted -- and the rest is history! We feel so fortunate to be able to spend the rest of our lives together as best friends and soulmates.
