Our Story

This story is not like the Hallmark movies you watch during the Holidays. It’s not about a small town girl that falls in love with a movie star, whose plane accidentally landed in her town, and they randomly met at a coffee shop. Instead, this is a story about how a nerdy trumpet player fell in love with an even nerdier clarinet player. Isaiah was 16 years old, in the middle of his Sophomore year of high school, when he started to fall for a cute little band geek named Ashley. The two formed a bit of a friendship, by texting each other almost daily, and talking during band class; their only class together. Isaiah was not really sure where he stood with Ashley. Does she like him? Would she ever date him? Does she just see him as a friend? All these questions ran through his head for weeks. On May 25th, 2015, which just so happened to be Ashley’s 15th birthday; Isaiah finally built up enough courage to ask her to be his girlfriend. She said yes. The two stayed together for two months, before calling it quits. Your typical “Together Forever” high school relationship.

Our Story (Part 2)

But do not worry, that’s not where our story ends. In fact, it’s only just the beginning. After the break up, Isaiah moved on rather quickly. A decision he would soon regret. Isaiah and Ashley went about a year and a half without talking to each other. They did their best to ignore each other in band class, before Isaiah ended up quitting all together due to other circumstances. In early 2017, the two started talking again, as it seemed they were both in need of a friend. They talked on and off for a few months. Isaiah, who was a year ahead of Ashley in school, graduated and began his adult life. Right after high school, he started a job at a summer camp. Where he had no communication with the outside world, except for when he would go to town on the weekends. During that summer, Isaiah and Ashley’s friendship would diminish. Ashley started dating a guy who could actually communicate with her, and didn’t live 250+ miles away. Isaiah found out about her new found relationship, and hopes of a reunion with her began to die off. He moved back to his hometown and began a new warehouse job. Where he would work for just short of a year, before he moved off to Texas to go to college. Isaiah moved to Texas to pursue his degree in Humanities and Biblical Studies. Ashley began to pursue her nursing degree at a local University.

Our Story (Part 3)

A few months into Isaiah’s Texas adventure; he and a friend of his attended a concert. While at the concert, Isaiah received a message from Ashley that said “Can we talk?” Isaiah called her as soon as he got home that night. That phone call would last roughly eleven hours. Ashley had a lot of things to fill Isaiah in on. Ashley was back in Isaiah’s life, and he felt complete again. A couple months later, Isaiah came home for Christmas break. The two went on their first date at a local Mexican restaurant. Then, a little more than a week later, Isaiah asked Ashley to be his girlfriend again, and promised her that it would be much better than the first they had tried it. Isaiah eventually went back to Texas, which was very hard on both of them. They called, and video chatted as often as they could, but it just wasn’t enough. They kept their long distance relationship going for more than four months. Then Isaiah came home for summer break. While on summer break, the two celebrated Ashley’s 19th birthday in California at her grandma’s house. Isaiah proposed to Ashley on her birthday, in Monterey Bay, California. Since then, Isaiah and Ashley have been on far too many adventures to name. They’ve taught each other what love really means. They’ve suffered lows, and ridden highs together. Through job loss, a global pandemic, sickness, and many other things, their love has endured; and will continue to do so until the end of time.
