In 2016, Thomas was in the fall drum line. At a football game, Isabel turned to her friend (Sam Morgan) and said, "He's going to be my boyfriend," while pointing at Thomas. Little did she know that one day that would be true. When the fall musical at Maple Grove Senior High came around- Isabel was in the cast & Thomas was in tech. Isabel told a mutual friend (Abby Gust) that she thought Thomas was cute and asked for his phone number. After a few weeks of texting, Thomas driving Isabel to school, and "Homework Dates", they officially started dating.

Thomas had told Isabel that they would be going out to dinner with his parents. Once they got to the house, Thomas's dad, Joe, asked Isabel & Thomas to grab a few boxes from the gazebo. They walked down to the fire pit and Thomas took both of Isabel's hands. He then reached into his pocket and got on one knee, and proposed. Isabel of course said, "yes". The proposal was followed by a surprise engagement party that Thomas organized with friends & family to celebrate the great news!
