Ryan and Kate met through a mutual friend at Star Wars Celebration Chicago in 2019, and though Kate may have been distracted by the life size X-Wing in the room, Ryan took notice of the cute short girl with a Yoda strapped on her back. After a week of texting back and forth, they had their first date at Incontro A Tavola in South Barrington, where they stayed chatting till closing. Several dates and a few months later, Kate asked Ryan to house sit and take care of her 3 cats, and Ryan never left. He moved in officially a week or two later and shortly after that, Covid arrived. The two were stuck together, but everything worked out! The hardest part of living together may have been finding a place for Ryan’s board Game collection. Kate and Ryan have continued to attend conventions and cosplay together. Finally, In 2022, at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, the two visited the Millennium Falcon at Disneyland and Ryan proposed, him in Sith robes, her clad in Jedi attire. The Force Was with them, and now they prepare for their next great adventure - marriage.
