Our Love Story

Ted and Hannah woke up, on what appeared to be a very normal Saturday morning at UMass Amherst. The birds were chirping, the omelets were flipping and a Beer Olympics event was brewing. What they did not expect when they woke up that day is that they would meet the person they were going to marry! Ted on team Canada sporting a cutoff Canadian Tuxedo and Hannah representing team Scotland decked out in plaid, locked eyes during a Flip Cup match- and the rest was history- sort of. The following day Ted invited Hannah to drive up to Vermont for breakfast and Hannah, to the dismay of her friends who didn't want her driving out of state with a guy she met less than 24 hours ago, said let's do it! After that day, Hannah got home and immediately called her mom telling her she met the love of her life. During the final weeks of Spring Semester 2017, Ted and Hannah spent nearly every day together still claiming they "did not want anything serious" before the summer began. When they parted ways, it did not take long for them to reconnect as Ted was interning in NYC and Hannah was in CT for the summer... and that my friends is when they realized this was serious. After graduation Ted and Hannah took a road trip up the West Coast from San Diego to Whistler, BC stopping for friends, family, matching tattoos and job opportunities for Ted; eventually landing one at the Seattle Seahawks. For the next 2 years Ted worked in Seattle while Hannah went to Graduate school in New York and boy did they rack up the airline points seeing one another often. In that fateful month of March 2020 when schools and work went remote and travel was few and far between, they decided to take a big leap and Hannah moved out to Seattle to be with Ted, for they couldn't take not knowing when they would see each other next. It ended up being the best decision they ever made finding an amazing place to call home for the next 3+ years. Finally, in 2022 Ted hatched the plan to propose that summer while on a family vacation in Greece. Before they got on the plane Ted did not forget a single detail, from surprising Hannah's parents in CT to ask for their blessing months before to sending each of Hannah's family members a bottle of champagne so they could cheers with us via Facetime. The only thing left in his plan to complete- and debatably the most difficult- was to convince Hannah to wake up at sunrise in Santorini. Luckily, she happily did and Ted popped the question on a secluded rooftop. Fast forward to November 2022 when the Zimmerman family got news that no one in the world should have to receive, that Ted's mother, Emily, was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. During this time, to no one's surprise, this family came together with such intense and intentional love towards one another and we couldn't think of enough ways to show that love. One way we were able to make happen- was a wedding. See, for months now Hannah's family had already had this plan to spend Christmas in St. Louis so the universe helped us out a bit. In 3 weeks we planned a wedding and on December 26, 2022, Hannah and Ted tied the knot with their immediate families in a small, but mighty celebration. Everyone laughed, everyone danced, everyone felt the magic- and most importantly everyone could be there. Now all that's left is to celebrate our (not so brief) love story with the rest of the people we love most in this world!
