In June 2015, just one day after Blair Imani converted to Islam she attended a housewarming party in Baton Rouge, Louisiana hosted by her mentor, Dr. Stephen Finley. Having just completed Dr. Finley's course, Hip-Hop, Religion, and Culture, Akeem Ali was also in attendance. Akeem and Blair have been part of each other's lives since that very day. Just one year later in 2016, their commitment to community and justice brought them back to Baton Rouge on the front lines of the movement for Black lives. Our world is often tragic and difficult, but those challenges are made far easier when one has a partner in love and justice by their side. Seven years, two dogs, one pandemic, countless precious moments have brought us to this moment. We hope you join us on October 1, 2022 for the Union of Blair Imani and Akeem Ali.
