If you know Michael, you know that he is hilarious... or at least he thinks he is. I should have known that our engagement would have some sort of prank or joke in it but to say I was surprised would be an understatement. We moved into our home in December of 2019 (100% do NOT recommend moving in December). Because of the big move, I was sure we wouldn't be engaged any time soon. I worked Christmas day at the hospital so it wasn't until the 27th that we were able to celebrate Christmas together. Being that it was out first Christmas in the new home, I woke up early to set up all of the stockings by the tree (the first thing to be decorated in our house on move-in day). When I went to wake Michael up to open presents, he was insistent upon taking a shower first, which drove me crazy. After some of my annoyance had worn off we started opening our stockings. As I reached in the bottom of my stocking to retrieve the last present I felt a box. The kind of box that feels like there might be a ring in it kind of box. I immediately shouted "no you didn't" as this would have been a copy of my friend Madison's engagement and we had just joked about him copying the idea a few months before. He told me to open it and the box was empty. He was rolling laughing so hard and told me the box was our friend Jacob's (who I knew planned to propose to Tiffany that week). I believed him and we continued to open presents. As I was consumed with excitement about the record player and Queen record he had gotten me I turned around to find him on one knee, with an actual ring in his hand. Truly the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. Of course, I said yes!

Michael and I were casual friends in high school until I had no choice but to give him a piece of my mind after he flipped me the bird in the parking lot. Funny way to pick up a girlfriend right? Our relationship began like most do these days and we started texting nonstop. Our first date was attending a super bowl party at his parent's house although I didn't even know he liked me at all until he kissed me goodbye! Eight years later I get to call Michael my fiance as I write this in our first home with our pup, Campbell at my side. Life has been so good so far and we cant wait to see what marriage has is store for us. I know that as long as I have him, I am home. He is my only.
