Things to see and do on Amelia Island

We are getting married at the Sugar Pointe Estate, in Yulee, Florida. The town of Yulee is about a 20 minute drive from Amelia Island, where Perrin grew up! Amelia Island is also where my family has travelled for spring vacations for over 30 years. Here are some places on Amelia Island that we recommend seeing while you're here! 1. Downtown Fernandina Beach There are many places to eat and shop, and beautiful views of the harbor! Definitely walk down on the docks if you can! 2. The Beach Amelia Island is famous for its long, sandy beaches. You can access the beaches in several ways: Peter's Point Park - easy access with plenty of parking and bathrooms; Amelia Island State Park - less easy access if you park, but a beautiful place to drive onto the beach! Please only drive if you have a real 4 wheel drive vehicle. If you get stuck call Perrin 915-383-6824. 3. Restaurants and Bars Some of our favorites: Lagniappe - good, semi-fancy southern/french/cajun food Wicked Bao - owned by a family friend of the Billes - asian fusion Bar Zin- very tasty southern food Tasty's Burgers - Perrin once worked here, best casual burger on the island! The Green Turtle Tavern- A great place to catch live music and where Perrin and I met.

Flight

Jacksonville Airport JAX

This airport is a 45 minutes drive from Amelia Island, where my and Perrin's family will be staying, and within 30 minutes of the Sugar Pointe Estate (the wedding venue). There is another airport on the Island but it is for private planes only!

Rental Car

Turo

Ubers and Lyfts will most likely be available from the airport (JAX) to Amelia Island, but there are NOT many Ubers or Lyfts available ON AMELIA ISLAND. We highly recommend RENTING a car for your time here for our wedding or arranging for a car service since the Rideshare apps will not be reliable.
