Ian and McKenna met at a toga party for Ian’s fraternity. Earlier in the evening McKenna had said that she didn’t want to go but was convinced by her Kappa Delta sisters. McKenna and Ian started talking and felt an instant connection. She thought he was very cute (even if he was using his dorm bedsheet as a toga) and he couldn't believe that anybody would laugh at his bad jokes.

Ian and McKenna were on their annual Valentine ski trip. Ian had planned to propose to McKenna later in the weekend while they were snow shoeing but as they skied along a little trail overlooking the Montezuma Bowl at Arapahoe Basin, Ian decided to just go for it. He got down on one knee and asked McKenna to marry him. Before she could say yes an enthusiastic skier flew by them shouting “HELL YEA!” and that pretty much summed it up.
