We got to know each other online and instantly had a great vibe. We were enjoying getting to know each other and had no immediate plans to meet, but after she had a disastrous New Year date with someone else, we decided that 1 o'clock on New Year morning was the perfect time to meet! We ended up sharing our first of a lifetime of New Year kisses that night. After designing the perfect ring together, it was Danny's job to pop the question. Lauren had three simple rules; 1) It couldn't be in the apartment, 2) It had to be a surprise, 3) Someone had to be there to take pictures. Planning a proposal during a raging pandemic was no small task and there were false starts and bad proposal ideas that he avoided more through dumb luck than anything else. He wasn't sure he was going to be able to pull it off, but while preparing for a short camping trip with their friend, Emma, it dawned on him; camping is their thing! She'll never see it coming and Emma can take pictures! He slipped the ring in with his stuff and covertly texted Emma to have the camera at the ready. During the well practiced routine of setting up camp, he went to one knee to "unfold the tent". When she turned around he had the ring out and asked, "Will you marry me?" She immediately said "yes!" She eagerly took the ring and put it on, they kissed, she cried, Emma got the whole thing on camera and they spent the rest of the afternoon driving around looking for cell reception so they could call everyone and tell them the good news.
