It all started at an ice skating rink during 8th grade. James used to go there every Friday with his friends, but little did he know that this one Friday was going to be life-changing. His now-fiancée was also there with her friends. The next day, Megan knew she had to find him on Facebook and she sent him a friend request. Of course, he accepted it immediately. They started communicating with each other there for months before exchanging numbers. Things changed in 9th grade when they started attending the same high school. They regularly hung out, mostly in groups, but then on January 26th, 2014, Megan and James officially started dating. They were high school sweethearts and both went on to attend colleges in Chicago. After graduation, they moved in together in August 2018, and they adopted the beloved Rosalina in April 2020. From that one Friday night at the ice skating rink to now, they’ve been on an incredible journey, and they can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
James had special plans for their upcoming 9th anniversary. They were already planning on taking a trip to Los Angeles, and they were “coincidentally” able to get cheaper flights on the day of their anniversary. Their plans for the day of their arrival in the City of Angels included a visit to the Griffith Observatory, the perfect location for a proposal, and dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant, a good excuse to be dressed up. When they arrived at the observatory, it was nearly sunset, and they made their way down to a more private lookout point. After taking in the view for a couple of moments, James gave Megan a short and sweet, yet comical, speech, and that’s when she finally knew. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Megan was over the moon with excitement and happily said yes! After that, Megan and James spent the week enjoying everything southern California has to offer. It was a perfect start to the rest of their lives together. From that day forward, Megan and James would always remember the beautiful view from Mount Hollywood that had become the backdrop of their engagement.
