How We Met

First comes GOD, then comes forever!

We met the way all epic romances start—at a friend's party. You know, the kind of party where you’re trying to figure out why UCT kids are always clicking together in Jozi and how to crack the best amapiano moves. Neither of us thought much of it at the time when we met. We went on a couple of group dates after that (it's a debate who really won the go-karting), but we were totally not focused on “finding love”. But then, enter divine intervention! God had other plans and decided to give us each a very unsubtle nudge. Imagine the Almighty going, “HELLO, YOU TWO, PLEASE.” We both got the memo in our own ways and suddenly, everything aligned. Louis officially asked Hope out at Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga, her absolute dream spot. I mean, really? The second-largest canyon in the world, and this guy is standing there asking her out like it’s no big deal. From that moment on, things got serious—and adventurous. We traveled the world together, starting with a freezing winter in London, taking those epic double-decker buses everywhere while complaining about the cold. Then we went to Kenya’s Diani Beach, and had the most magical experience —stargazing from the top of a helipad, dancing with crowds, and once we got to Rwanda we casually got to meet Josh2Funny (a fav comedian of Louis) and took selfies with KO-C. Back home in South Africa, we explored Durban, hiking the Drakensberg and browsing night markets. In Lesotho, we found ourselves in the highest bar in Africa, where locals didn’t just offer us beer—they insisted on it! And of course, Cape Town. Hiking Table Mountain together felt like another step in this journey. Now, we’re starting our next chapter in America—new adventures ahead. But it wasn’t just fun and games (although, to be fair, there were a lot of games—Tequila, Padel and Mafia, anyone?). We grew together spiritually in EveryNation Bryanston, leaned on each other through tough moments, and celebrated Christmases filled with lots of dancing, joy and food. All of this has shaped who we are as a couple. Looking back, it’s hard to believe we once thought we weren’t meant to be. Turns out, God knew better all along and continues to be the anchor of our relationship. Come celebrate with us as we continue this journey.
