Dan and Katie met on a beautiful summer night it August of 2016 at Cap’n Luke’s Clam Bake at Regatta Point Sailing Club in Worcester. It was an end-of-of the summer event for all friends and family of current and former Regatta Point members. Dan had grown up sailing at Regatta with Katie’s childhood friend Natalie, who taught there in the summers. Dan showed up late to the party, covered head-to-toe in flour because he had been making pizza all day for Anzio’s. He and Katie made small talk throughout the night about what they did for work, Dan’s pizza making skills and how they knew Natalie and her boyfriend, Kevin. After the Clam Bake, Dan started spending time at Katie, Natalie and Katherine’s apartment with Kevin. Katie and Dan got to know each other a little better through cooking, cocktail making and playing games like Truth-or-Dare Jenga - when they had to swap pants for the night. Eventually Dan got the invite to join Katie, Natalie and Katherine’s trivia team and quickly ascended to become the team leader of Captain Hooks’ Lost Girls. Dan made the trip from East Hartford to Vintage Grille in Worcester once a week after work. It wasn’t until about a year later that Dan finally admitted how much he hates trivia… After a while, Katie started getting texts off of the group chat that ultimately led to a “I think it’s time we go on a date”. Katie left Dan on read for several hours and left him waiting while she talked it through with Natalie. Finally, she said yes. Katie and Dan had their first date at Peppercorn’s in Worcester, where Dan accidentally ate a ball of butter, thinking it was mozzarella. It took Dan a few years to admit to Katie that she had "the biggest pit stains" on their first date. Luckily, they did not scare Dan away and the rest is history.
