We're Getting Married!

Welcome to our wedding website – we’re so glad you’re here. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about our upcoming nuptials. It all started with a phone call. Hiwot was having a not so quiet conversation in Amharic in a “quiet room” at work, and just on the other side of the wall, Kefy was trying to study. Distracted and intrigued by hearing those familiar sounds in such an unexpected place, he just had to see the face to match the voice. Conversation turned into coffee, coffee turned into trips to Montreal, and more than five years later, here we are. Both moved to Ottawa in search of career opportunities and found so much more!

On a bus trip from Brittany to Paris, Hiwot and Kefy found themselves left behind at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere with all of their things, three suitcases and a suit in a garment bag, still en route. Stressed out and with few options, they started to look to other travellers for help. Fortunately, a band of musicians heading to Paris offered to give them a ride and their baggage was rescued by a friend of a friend before it disappeared into the lost and found abyss. Little did Hiwot know, nestled in Kefy’s suit in that garment bag was the ring. Reunited with their effects, they made it to their hotel and then headed back out to celebrate with their new musician friends. The next day, on July 24th 2018, they ended a full day of site seeing with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower on the last elevator up. There, Kefy proposed to Hiwot and she said yes.
