Hira: I have heard this one a bunch! You all know, I'd love for you to represent in Pakistani/Indian outfits, but it is of course what you are most comfortable with. If you prefer the Pakistani/Indian cultural route, there are plenty of options to buy (which can get a bit pricey ranging from $200-700+ per outfits), so I do recommend the option of renting for those who don't have any traditional clothing. I've listed some renting options below! https://www.lashkaraa.com (this is a great option, be sure to read reviews!) https://borrowthebazaar.com https://www.allborrow.com https://glamourental.com https://leasinglooks.com 5th of July - Henna (Mehndi) Ceremony and Pithi Night is a colorful, vibrant night! We encourage you to wear bright colors such as yellows, blues, and pinks. 6th of July - Ceremony/Reception night is the elegant night to celebrate and dance the night away! Wear your best dressed and flaunt yourself.
We ask that you RSVP as soon as possible, but no later than 4th of May, 2024. You may do so online or in the golden cards attached to invitation envelopes (will be mailed by end of December).
Yes! Both venues will have a parking lot.
Unlike traditional American weddings, the bride does not (traditionally) wear white so please feel free to wear white. There are truly no "colors" off limits and we encourage all to feel comfortable in what they wear!
Mehndi, or "henna," is a natural paste applied as temporary body art, revered for its association with positive energy and good fortune. In Indian/Pakistani and various other Middle Eastern/African cultures, the Mehndi ceremony is a cherished tradition held on the eve of the wedding, symbolizing blessings for the bride's journey into marriage, ensuring her health and prosperity. The festivities continue on the following day with the Pithi ceremony. Here, family members gather to adorn the bride and groom's faces with a thick, yellow paste, typically composed of chickpea flour, turmeric, rose water, and assorted herbs. In traditional Indian/Pakistani weddings, the Pithi holds both practical and symbolic significance. As a beauty regimen, the paste harmonizes the skin tone, preparing the couple for the monumental occasion ahead. Symbolically, the "turmeric ceremony" represents familial love and affection, as loved ones lovingly smear the paste onto the couple's faces. It's also believed that applying the paste to unmarried family members can enhance their prospects of finding a life partner. These rituals deepen the cultural tapestry of Indian/Pakistani weddings, uniting families in celebration while invoking blessings and well-wishes for the couple's marital journey. We recommend flying into SMF for ease of convenience! Usually, flights to SFO are a bit cheaper but it is about ~2 hours away.
