Hilary & Sean met the last weekend of college at Florida State University. They were both out celebrating graduation with friends at the bar, Proof, when they were introduced by mutual friends (thanks Reed & Bianca). Hilary & Sean hit it off instantly and couldn't believe how much they had in common- including both working at Publix, having labradoodles, and being from South Florida. After a few months went by, Sean finally got the courage to reach out to Hilary on facebook and the rest is history!
Sean wanted to have getaway to celebrate his 31st birthday (wink wink, actually he didn't) and here's the story: It was 2020, so any reason to celebrate & have vacation was needed. Sean planned the entire weekend in Carmel with the help of some very important people: his mom, his sister, Courtney, and Chloe, Hilary's twin sister. They hatched a plan to fool Hilary into thinking it was a birthday weekend getaway spent with his sister, her fiance, and Hilary, when in fact this weekend was all meant for the proposal. They all knew that Hilary, being the type A personality that she is, would never say yes to a trip she didn't help plan, so they let her think she was planning the birthday weekend when in fact she was helping plan her own proposal. After spending the afternoon at a winery, Hilary & Sean went back to their hotel, The Tickled Pink, to freshen up before heading to happy hour at the hotel next door for more wine. Or so, Hilary thought. Turns out there was no happy hour or wine. Instead Hilary walked into the beautiful empty lobby of the Highland Inn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. While she was busy photographing the view, Sean found his way to the grand piano and started playing. Hilary was nervous they'd get in trouble, but Sean assured her it was ok and asked her to come over. Then, he started playing "Here Comes The Bride". After playing he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him. After her shock, a couple F-bombs and tears, she said "YES!"
