Where MLK wrote his "I Have a Dream" speech, Julia Ward Howe gave the Union Army its ballad, "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and Senator Henry Clay first introduced D.C. to the mint julep, the Willard remains a Washington institution. Last time the couple was there, they saw Larry Summers scrolling Twitter in the lobby. The Willard is just two blocks from the venue, one block from the White House, and provides easy access to all the museums and monuments on the National Mall.

The oldest continuously operating hotel in D.C., the Tabard Inn exudes Old World charm and offers excellent dining and frequent live music, along with TV-free rooms. This also happens to be the location where the groom asked Mr. Coddington to be his best man. The hotel is centrally located near Dupont Circle with easy access to the church, venue, and all the amenities of N.W. Washington. Don't miss Un je ne sais Quoi, just down the street, for excellent French pastries to start your morning.

Escape the monuments, museums, flags, and suits, into Adams Morgan, a hub of D.C. nightlife and cafe culture. Watch the world go by on the sprawling, sun-drenched steps of the Line, before picking up some Pitango gelato to enjoy in nearby Kalorama Park. The Couple lives just three blocks from the Line and enjoys D Light Cafe by day, and Soussi and Madams Organ by night. The National Zoo and Rock Creek Park are also just steps away. The church and venue are both easily accessible by bus and Uber.
