Jacob and Stephanie’s first interactions were through messages, with the first coincidentally on Stephanie’s birthday. About a week later, on a late summer evening, Jacob and Stephanie met in person for drinks and both felt a strong attraction to one another. They soon discovered an almost instant connection over their shared pasts in California and their love of craft cocktails. The night ended with Salt & Straw ice cream and a stroll through downtown Ballard. When they met for a walk a few days later, Finn (Stephanie’s dog) gave the final approval and they’ve been nearly inseparable since. Stephanie still jokes that Jacob is the best birthday gift the universe has ever given her.

One year later, on their anniversary, they recreated their first date at Little Tin in Ballard. In a private yurt on the bar’s patio, Stephanie described what she wanted for their next year together - travel and growth as a couple - while Jacob had other ideas. Jacob had plans about how they could spend not just the next year, but the rest of their lives together, and got down on one knee and proposed! The evening ended just like their first date: with Salt & Straw Ice Cream.
