Kelsey and Alex met in 2013 through mutual friends at Kelsey's annual dance recital. They hung out after the recital at the friends' annual Denny's dinner and then after that night, didn't see each other for almost a full year. Then in January of 2014, both Kelsey and Alex attended the Miss Santa Clara Pageant to support their friends who were competing and began talking and building a relationship. From that point on the friend groups converged and the two began hanging out more and more. In April 2014, Alex built up the courage to ask Kelsey to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.

Kelsey's family had a trip planned to San José del Cabo in August 2019 which Alex was tagging along on. He thought it would be an amazing location to "pop the special question" and went to Kelsey's sister Katie to compose a seamless plan. Kelsey's father arranged for the group to have dinner at "El Farallon" at the Resort at Pedregal while the family was in Cabo, which is where Alex decided he would propose. When they arrived at the hotel, the concierge led the family down to the beach and Alex asked Kelsey if she wanted to take some photos. Being the stubborn person she is, Kelsey responded that she didn't want to go on the sand but Alex and Katie convinced her she would get the best photos by the water. Katie started snapping shots of the love birds and Kelsey's mom was in the background secretly getting ready to film the special moment. As they were finishing up taking pics, Alex grabbed the ring out of his pocket, and began to bend down, forgetting everything he planned to say as soon as his knee hit the ground. Kelsey, surprised and elated, asked Alex "is this really happening" (even though she later admitted she had a feeling this was coming)? After taking some engagement photos on the beach the family went up to their dinner reservation, toasted the newly engaged couple and had a cliff side dinner as the sun set...ending the perfect night.
