Things To Do

We've added some things you can do while you're in town if you wanted to explore the valley where we grew up.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve

CO
(719) 378-6395

This is great for kids or adults! Great hiking, beautiful views, and trails for trucks or jeeps.

Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park

1991 County Road 63, Hooper, CO 81136
, (719) 378-2807

This is a hot springs swimming pool. Great for kids and adults! Water is always 90+ degrees, has a small slide that goes into a stream, sand volleyball, great food. If you don't want to deal with kids there's a 21+ pool called the green house that serve alcohol and has multiple hot tubs of varying temperatures and great small plates to try.

Zapata Falls

CO 81146

This is a great little mini hike (1.5 miles) where you get a view from Mt. Blanca and get to see a beautiful mountain water fall. Easy to take kids to, not difficulty hike, and they love playing in the creek! The water is COLD and you have to walk through it to see the water fall so be prepared! Road up there is a little rough and bumpy but easy enough to manage.

San Luis Valley Brewing Company

631 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101
, (719) 587-2337

This is where we went on our first date! Beer is brewed locally, occasional live music, TVs for sports watchers and a descent selection of alcohol. This also has patio seating available if you wanted to eat or drink outdoors.

SquarePeg Brewerks

625 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101
, (719) 580-7472

This is a little brewery that serves only beer. One of the owners is a local farmer that grows the barely they use to make their beer. This place has board games, shuffle board, and allows you to bring in food from various places if you wanted to try some local beers while enjoying some take out.

Three Barrel Brewing Co

475 Grand Avenue, Del Norte, CO 81132
, (719) 657-0681

This is a great brewery found in Del Norte. Del Norte is a little town that has a lot of trails surrounding it. If you wanted to check out some local trails, then grab a drink or bite to eat this is the place. They do pizza, calzones, and have some great beers to try while enjoying the views from their large patio.

For all the days along the way
