Ryan & Melissa were in the Smoky Mountains for Melissa’s cousin’s wedding. Melissa’s dad rented out a beautiful house in the middle of the mountains for the weekend. Melissa knew Ryan had the ring already and even harassed Ryan upon arrival, “Did you bring the ring?!?” With a poker face, Ryan responded with, “No, I thought about it. But I didn’t want to take away from your cousin’s wedding.” Melissa thought that made perfect sense so she didn’t think anything of it. The wedding festivities lasted all day and it was a gorgeous wedding. Melissa’s parents left the reception early as it was getting late—and again, Melissa did not think anything of this. Soon after they left, Melissa was also ready to go. Her feet were killing her and she was exhausted from the long day of festivities. Melissa and her siblings had all rode in seperate cars and Melissa was getting frustrated that Ryan and her brother would not leave unless all the siblings were together. Upon arriving back to the rental house, Melissa immediatey kicked her shoes off and went to the bathroom. When she came out, everyone was like, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?” and she was very confused by this. Why did anyone care what she was doing? Aren’t we all going to bed? Ryan asked her to come outside onto the deck. Melissa, probably rudely, responded, “Why?” Ryan then said, “Just come outside, Melissa.” Melissa then realized something may be happening. Melissa walked out onto the balcony and it was lit up with tea lights, string lights, and there was a gorgeous card box that her Aunt had saved for her specifically. Ryan grabbed a canvas and handed it to Melissa. It said, “Happiness is being married to your best friend.” Melissa started crying as she read it and then Ryan got down on one knee, in front of all of her family watching from inside the house through the window, and cried something along the lines of, “I just love you so much. Will you marry me?” Obviously the rest is history.
