The Full Story

Two kids on their way towards tying the knot

The first time Bradley and I met was in the fall of 2019. I thought he was a massive nerd having been a part of a D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) campaign that took place in the early morning in my townhouse to account for his overnight shifts. And he knew I was also a massive nerd having come down the stairs in an oversized lab coat and safety goggles around my neck as I left the house for a 7:30 AM lab. We traded these brief meetings over the next few months until the sessions hosted in my townhouse shifted to the evenings and I was invited to a new campaign that included Bradley and his co-workers. For the rest of the winter and into the beginning of 2020, Bradley and I began to see each other more frequently. It further cemented my initial assessment that we were both nerds but nerds excited about the same things and we became quick friends. Cue March 2020 -- Bradley and I are both single and the COVID pandemic has turned our spring break into a terrifying nightmare of quarantines and lockdowns. However, ever trying to make the most of it, we make the wild decision to quarantine with all of our friends and hunker down together. Over a month later full of late-night food delivery, video game competitions, and bingeing our favorite anime and Marvel movies, we take the next obvious step -- talking at midnight to confirm that we are, in fact, dating and we're ready to see how far this goes. Over the ensuing 3 years, it feels like one amazing adventure after another. We introduced the grumpy Bee and the food-loving Jinx. We combined our households into one as we leave Orlando for Charleston (an easy task for me as a Navy brat but not so easy for the Florida native) and Bradley had the opportunity to speak with my father about wanting a future with me. We traveled the state to visit national forests and county parks. We survived international travel on our own on the Italian coast with impromptu trips and plans being made with only hours to spare. We bought a house and moved again! A kitten was found in a parking garage and made our little family all the more entertaining. But we've loved the little adventures just as much: late-night Taco Bell runs, anime movie premieres where we're 1 of 10 in the theatre, trying restaurants in our local Summerville, setting up aquariums together, going to farmer's markets, and being the only people cheering on the Tampa Bay Lightning in a place full of Carolina Hurricane fans. So, on November 20th, 2021, when Bradley proposed at Caw Caw, our favorite Charleston County park, it was the next obvious step -- calling him "a poop" in front of his parents and giggling with him when the ring was two sizes too big because he had purchased it just the day before and was too excited to wait. To our friends and family, we're so excited to share this next step in our lives with you!
