Like all good meet-ups in the COVID era, Dan and I met via a dating app. I had a go-to bar close to my house I usually used as a first-date meet-up, which was where we were planning to go. Dan, after doing some independent research at some point in the day, realized there were no TVs to watch his beloved Eagles game, so he switched the bar at the last minute. He swears I was 30 minutes late (but I think it was actually only 10 minutes.) The first date ended up being a double date after Dan ran into some friends while waiting on me (he was unsure if I was actually coming), which was an unpleasant and awkward surprise on my end. I decided to give him another go with a second date- and I'm glad I did. The second date led to a third, and then a fourth... and the rest is history. Since meeting one another, we've had a rollercoaster of adventures and experiences together. From doing a live-aboard SCUBA trip in Belize to sky-diving in the Florida Keys to our many different hikes and trips together, we love exploring everything our world has to offer!
We added a trip to Alaska to the front end of a dental conference Dan was attending in Seattle, WA the following week. I had just gotten done with a school residency and was looking forward to a short vacation before launching back into work and class. We arrived to Alaska late on Thursday. Dan explained he had booked an AirB&B further away from Anchorage due to the cost of spots in the area- little did I know, he had booked a cabin in Palmer and surprised me with a helicopter ice-climbing adventure the following day. When I climbed out of the moulin and sat down to catch my breath, Dan took his chance to propose. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
