We are one of the lucky couples coming out of the world of online dating - thanks, Bumble! Nathan chose a fabulous Michelin star restaurant in Chicago (sadly no longer open) to share in our first date and to celebrate his move back to Chicago and his new job. After a delicious dinner and some free dessert (good move, Nathan, picking a restaurant where you know the pastry chef), we decided to walk to a nearby bar (where of course Nathan knew the bartender, another smooth move) to have our first Old Fashioneds together. On the walk, a large construction fence moved in the wind making a frightening noise and making Nathan scream like a child...But he found his resolve, moved to block the fence from Heidi and promised to protect her from scary fences. Needless to say, Heidi loves Nathan's sense of humor since day one, and both of us felt we had something special starting already after so many hours of easy conversation.

To celebrate Heidi finishing the last day at her job, we planned to have a dinner date at one of our favorite local restaurants where we had our second date and then to walk over to that same bar we went to on our first date. After enjoying a delicious gluten-free pizza, we started on the short walk over to the bar. Remember that scary fence from our first date? Right at that fence, Nathan dropped down on his knee and confirmed he would continue to protect Heidi from scary fences for the rest of our lives and asked if Heidi would marry him....and she said yes!
