Hotel
This is the hotel where Sarah, Héctor, and some of their wedding party will be staying from August 2nd-8th. The Gallery Inn has a big personality--owned by an artist who renovated the original structure after discovering it in ruins, the hotel is filled to the brim with art, history, and several parrots. Its eccentricity is part of the charm, but we recommend it only for those who will enjoy the hotel's idiosyncrasies (and won't mind sounds of the lively nightlife across the street in La Perla).
Hotel
As its name indicates, El Convento was once a convent in Old San Juan, but has in more recent years been renovated into a lovely hotel. Sarah's family will be staying there, and they would welcome the company of any family and friends who would like to join them there. We recommend this hotel for guests who would like a polished experience while remaining immersed in the lively atmosphere of Old San Juan.
Hotel
We recommend the Marriott for guests who would like immediate access to the beach. This hotel is located in a really fun neighborhood called El Condado (where Héctor grew up!), and is surrounded by many restaurants, cafés, shops, and parks. Note: while El Condado offers gorgeous ocean views, and is a great spot for sunbathing and walks along the water, the surf is often too rough for swimming in the area directly in front of the hotel. However, the Marriott has a very nice pool area right by the beach. For especially calm ocean waters in San Juan, we recommend that you take a quick walk to the Playita del Condado or take Uber to Playa Escambron.
Travel Note
While we've listed a few hotel options above, we encourage you to look at the many options available in the city. We also suggest checking out the many AirBnB rooms/homes available in Old San Juan, Condado, and Ocean Park. We have been pleasantly surprised by the affordable options available during our past trips to the island!
