Mark and Heather both moved down to Savannah from the North East to focus on their careers. They met online and decided to initially meet casually alongside mutual friends. Mark was supposed to play it cool but looked to his friends early on and said “I have to go meet this girl now”. So, Mark’s friends chased behind him as he raced towards the soon-to-be love of his life. Heather was dropping hints on where she was downtown hoping for him to eventually show up, but was surprised when Mark showed up so quickly. They spent the whole night together exchanging laughs and planned to see each other again after a holiday break. They decided two weeks was too long and decided to enjoy a dinner together and closed the restaurant down, a first for both of them. They learned quickly they shared the value of faith, friends, and a sense of humor. It’s hard to find them apart now unless Heather is doing evaluations at the elementary school or Mark is covered in camouflage in a field somewhere.
Heather always prided herself as being impossible to surprise so Mark knew the proposal would be tricky. On a quick visit to see Heather’s parents and Oma in Florida, Mark combined getting her dad’s permission with the proposal happening just a few hours later. (It was also beneficial for Mark because he isn’t the best at concealing excitement). As the weekend was coming to a close, Mark asked to see Oma one last time. When they got there, Mark told Heather’s Oma how much she meant to him and got down on a knee to give her a hug. Then, he swiveled around, looked at Heather and said, “I need you to stand up for this part”. Three generations (Heather, her mom, and Oma) stared at the ring in shock as Mark asked for her to marry him. It was a highlight in the retirement home to remember. We are so excited you’ll be able to join us on our special day of family, friends, and laughs in the state we met that will forever mean so much to us! We can’t wait to close the place down with all of you.
