We’re enGAYged!

We met as department leads at Dicks Sporting Goods. On first impression-we were intimidated of each other. However, we quickly realized how down to earth each other was and how easy it was to get the other to laugh! Our first REAL test was working together on merchandising projects with Brittany’s lightning speed and Hayley’s “hangry” episodes. Then came the “What do you want for breakfast?” questions and “Do you want to come to ‘bdubs’ for some drinks?” The rest is history.

Hayley had gotten Brittany a season pass for any National Park in the United States for her birthday. Eager to use it, Brittany planned a cabin getaway near Shenandoah. The cabin had a romantic atmosphere; with a backyard fire pit, movie theatre shed, and hot tub. The morning after arriving, we set out for our Skyline Drive adventure. Hayley co-piloted, handling the map like a pirate as the scenic views lay before us. On a particular pit stop (appropriately named the ‘Jewel’ view of the Shenandoah), we both got out of the car to take in the sight. We were gazing out over the overlook as Brittany mentioned “Wouldn’t this be better if we were married?” Hayley, completely oblivious, chuckled and agreed as she continued to gaze out. After a moment or two, Hayley finally had turned around and noticed Brittany held open a box with the engagement ring. After realizing what was going on after her initial shock, Hayley said ‘yes!’ with tears to follow. We both got back into the car and continued our trip, though Hayley could not contain her excitement and tears. Shortly back into the trip, Hayley asked “Wait, are you sure!?” Needless to say, the laughter and tears lasted the whole trip.
