FAQs

Question

1. Hawaii is really, really far away. How long should I expect to spend with you guys?

Answer

Yes, we realize Hawaii is an extremely long way away, and of course we completely understand if this caliber of trip is outside of your wheelhouse. For those who can make the trip out with us, we hope that you will use our wedding as an excuse to take a little adventure with us! We will be staying at the venue (on Waialea Bay, Kamuela, HI) September 28- October 2, with our ceremony and reception occurring on September 30. We invite you to stay with us on the big island (see travel tab for more info) for these four days, or whatever length of time seems reasonable to you!

Question

2. Hawaii is expensive- where should I stay?

Answer

We will be staying on the beach at Waialea bay (in the venue), for these four days, and there are a number of accommodations listed on AirBnB that are situated right next door, or just down the street! Of course, there are plenty of hotel options available as well (that will provide more of an all-inclusive experience). For the more adventurous- reach out to us for more recommendations of places to stay that are closer to activities of interest to you (we have been all over the big island). The best bang for your buck will be to stay with others in one of the rental properties (4-12 people).

Question

3. How do I get around the big island?

Answer

The big island is huge and there is so much to see and do all over the island (check out our “things to do” tab)! The best method of transportation is by rental car. One car is recommended per group of 3-4. To get from one side of the island to the other, you can expect about a 2-3 hour drive. If staying in one spot is more your style (such as at a hotel), there are a variety of taxis and shuttle services around; depending on where you stay. If you are a part of a large group interested in doing an activity together, reach out to us via email or phone and we will work to arrange a group shuttle, etc.

Question

4. What should I wear for the wedding?

Answer

Our ceremony will be on a beach, while the reception will follow on a grassy yard/ deck. Dressy-casual, floral, Hawaiian print shirts, or summer suits/ dresses will be our preferred style! It’s Hawaii, so GO FOR IT!

Question

5. Do I bring a gift?

Answer

Don’t pay for an extra suitcase just to haul us a gift. Your presence is gift enough for us! If you are really determined, please visit our registry and send something our way to our home in Denver!

Question

6. Will I get lei’d?

Answer

Depends on who you come with.

For all the days along the way
