We met when we were in junior high, at church youth group. Brandon was shy and quiet and I was loud and outgoing which worked well for our friendship. We had not thought much of it, but enjoyed each other's company every Wednesday evening. Fast forward to Brandon's senior year and my junior year of high school... Prom was approaching and I may have been a little curious if he had a date to his senior prom or not, and it turned out he hadn't. We talked through a mutual friend, and then had texted casuaully back and forth. Then the day I walked into floral class there had been a vase with flowers and a cut out heart say "Will you go to prom with me? Love, Brandon". For those of you who know me may understand my reaction most.. Which had been something like this, "Well I am not going if he doesn't ask me in person." I said this knowing how cute and shy Brandon had been, but he had not let me down. He had sticky noted my car with the word prom and asked me in person- I said yes for the first time.
Our first date was a double date with two of our friends in high school. Brandon had met me at the park and ride and he drove to the Cambridge bowling alley. We talked about our interests and likes, as well as our family and friends. We bowled and had concluded Brandon was a better bowler than myself... Brandon won me a stuffed alligator out of one of the vending machines, and I still have that little guy to this day. It was the perfect first date, and I would do it all over again.
It was a normal day for me... We had plans to go out with Brandon's family bowling. We went to the Zimmerman Bowl and played a game or two. When it came to one of my turns I had bowled the ball and turned around to everyone looking at me... Then there he was once I looked for him down on one knee with a ring, his face was as red as it could be and he asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes! I will never forget that night with all the emotions and smiles that had taken place between myself and the two of us, as well as with our family and friends.
