A Note from Us to You

For everyone’s personal safety and in accordance with venue constraints, we were forced to limit our guest list to an intimate number. Please accept our apologies for not having you attend in person. After the year we all endured, we were looking forward to celebrating and hugging you. While we can't have you physically present, we are honored you chose to join us virtually. We feel your love and can't wait to see you in person as husband and wife.

Swiped, right!

#HattieandLee

While the perils of Tinder may be true for some, swiping right worked out for Lee and Hattie. After exchanging messages about the finer things in life, such as the Atlanta Beltline, Hall & Oates, Papadeaux’s and Westside Gunn, we met for our “official” first date at Madre & Mason in Atlanta, GA on May 20, 2016. (That time we saw each other at Chipotle before our first date messes up our whole love story, so we don’t speak about that.) Exactly two months later, on June 20, during a spirited debate about Coca-Cola and Pixy Stix, ironically at a different Chipotle, Lee asked Hattie to be his girlfriend. While an eyewitness claims that Hattie told Lee that “he needs to quit playing games and...” all that really matters is that this was the beginning of a God-loving, fun-filled and life-long adventure. During the following years, we met each other’s family, found a church home, traveled to two continents and six countries, moved from Georgia to Brooklyn and back to Georgia, gone hiking and snorkeling, made new friends, spent way too much on our (Hattie’s) cats, Capri and Lotto, and much more. Our years of love and happiness lead to a chilly evening on February 15, 2020 in New York’s Catskills Mountains. After a day of keeping Hattie guessing almost backfired due to the quickly setting sun (see “playing games” reference above), with the snowcapped mountains and frosty lake setting the perfect scene, Lee asked Hattie to be his wife. Rarely (never) speechless, it took Hattie seeing the tears of joy (and stress) streaming down Lee’s face to realize that the moment she claimed she was ready for (she wasn’t) had actually just happened. Eventually, she said, “Yes!” Then, after a month of being newly engaged, the rest of 2020 happened…. However, with God’s grace, we thankfully navigated our way into the new year. (Amen!) On June 20, 2021, before family and friends, we will be united in the Lord Jesus Christ and begin our lives as husband and wife.
