The best way to get around the island is to rent a car. There are car rental companies located at the airport and in Waikiki. Other car rental options include Turo and Hui.
Travel Note
Getting around without a Rental Car
Although we don't recommend it as it can be limiting, there are ways to get around town without a car. SpeediShuttle, Roberts Hawaii, and Charley's Taxi are good options for transportation to/from the airport and your hotel. Other ride-sharing options are Uber, Lyft, and Holoholo. In town, you can use the trolleys (Waikiki Trolley, HiBus Trolley), buses, Biki bikes, and even electric scooters (Go X, Lime) to get around. For those more adventurous, you can rent a moped!
