Who doesn’t love a sappy Christmas party love story?? Ok, maybe not so sappy.. But ours none-the-less! The annual Lineman’s Christmas party is well-known for being a great time to get together with friends and family and celebrate the holiday. Music is playing, people are talking and drinks are flowing. After a year of glances across the room at National Grid events, this fateful night, Harmony & Jesse finally had a chance to talk and get to know each other! Were the drinks laced with Reindeer Energy Booster (TM)? Did Jesse work up the confidence himself? Although the true answer may never be known, this day marked the beginning of their forever love story!
The motto of Key West is "close to perfect" but, no doubt, June 6th, 2020 was 100% perfect! With states opening up to travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Jesse and Harmony booked a (very!) last minute and long-awaited trip to Key West. Key West is one of those places that's like a new experience every time you go. This time, though, Jesse had a surprise up his sleeve like no other. On this uncharacteristically temperate day in June, Jesse surprised Harmony with a private tour of the famed Key West Butterfly Garden. Butterflies being a meaningful family symbol for Harmony, this was a perfect surprise in and of itself. After naming some of the butterflies along the path and some quick facts, the tour guide mysteriously left the tour in the middle of it. But, with butterflies flying freely all around and flamingoes making love calls to each other, when Harmony turned around, Jesse was down on one knee! Come to find out, Jesse had also managed to get all their closest friends and family members a web link to a live stream from the Butterfly Garden extremely last minute (like, 10 minutes before the tour started last minute!) so everyone could experience the whole event with them! The "tour guide" returned with a bottle of champagne and congratulations, only to reveal that he was actually not a tour guide and that the Butterfly Garden doesn't even HAVE tour guides - another surprise up Jesse's sleeve! The newly engaged couple left on the wings of a butterfly (aka their moped) and ended the night with dinner overlooking the picturesque Key West sunset.
